Rally round

Some Burning Man Festival vibes coming to DC for the Stewart / Colbert rally:

[via washingtonpeacecenter.org]:

Sixty Samurai Seeking Sanity Invite You to Ride Golden Dragon to Colbert/Stewart Rallies

Date: Saturday, October 30, 2010 - 9:00am
Location: DC (Columbia Heights Metro)

(Another March Against the Insanity of American Nukes on Hair Trigger Alert!)

Details: Feeder march to Colbert/Stewaret Rallies begins at Columbia Heights Metro Station (14th and Irving NW) - rally at 9 am, march at 10 am.

Before the main Colbert and Stewart rallies start, join the Washington Peace center, don your favorite costume and march through DC with The Abraxas, a 50 ft golden dragon, 10,000 watt sound system and rode by sixty samurai wielding nuclear weapons. It'll be a roving party for insanity until we reach national mall where the Samurai will disarm their nukes and get some sanity!

According to Abraxas Leader known only mysteriously as “Bobcat Samurai,” the group has made their plans known and partnered with Adam Eidinger and the Capitol Hemp crew to sponsor this community event.

Visit: http://Abraxasdragon.com to see more pics get more info on the artists who built dragon beast.

Rumors are that electronic music icon MIA and/or Michael Franti will be performing on the dragon as it slowly drives towards the National Mall. You won't want to miss this Woodstock moment!

After the rally, when sanity has been achieved, there will be a disarming ceremony for the samurai and we'll march back up towards Petworth where it will park at 13th and Upsher Street, NW and be dismantled.

If you'd like to be a samurai, be a peacekeeper or help assemble the dragon, please join us Thursday and Friday anytime at 13th and Upsher. Contact Adam for details Ph: 202-744-2671 or to volunteer ***

Event Day: Saturday, October 30th, 2010
Location: 1240 Upshur St. Northwest, Washington DC 20013

We have all been invited to bring our beloved dragon Abraxas to the nation's capitol for the Jon Stewart/Colbert Rally to Restore Sanity on Oct. 30th, 2010. It is being hailed as Something Really Big. Oprah is buying people plane tickets...Arianna Huffington offered to bus every New Yorker for free. We have offered to ride our ship through the streets of D.C, collecting the hoard and ushering them down to the Rally. We are the only large float at the largest costume party in history!

Needless to say, we will generate a lot of "Wow". We will be witnessed by thousands live, and millions on TV. We also may have the artists M.I.A and Michael Franti performing. Hopefully we'll have you too!

This is an invite to all of you dragon lovers to participate to your highest ability. We hope you'd like to fly out and join us in D.C.! You can do it! Won't your parents be proud to see you shaking your booties on your very own flagship? Sure they will...maybe they can come too!?

Consider this as our opportunity to share the creativity and freedom in which our tribe gets to play, with those who have never heard a breakbeat, a dub whomp or seen a pair of Ayya boots. “For just the price of a cup of coffee each day”, these underprivileged American can know the feeling of a blast from the propane cannon or learn what "glitch" sounds like. We aren't rallying for or against anyone. We're going there to share the possibilities, express our unity, and have some fun.

Please donate to show your support.

— BOBCAT

And for those with any excess energy tonight, DJ Rekha and DJ Dredd will be throwing down some hot bhangra beats at Black Cat!
